Using the TZO web server to share your digital photos

Using the TZO webserver to share your digital camera pictures with others on the Internet, using Windows XP Scanner and Camera Wizard

Not everyone has their own web server running 24/7, but there are times when you want to share your digital camera pictures with friends and family. This tutorial shows you how to share your digital camera pictures using the TZO web server. By following this tutorial, you will be able to connect your Digital Camera to your Windows powered PC, and on your server. Please note that if you have a router or firewall, you need to open the proper ports on your router so others can access your server. To see how to open ports in your server, please see our router pages for tutorials

BEFORE STARTING: Install your digital camera software and drivers:
The first step is to read your camera documentation and install the camera software. You should only need to do this once, before you connect the camera to the computer. Read your instructions that came with the camera, some may not need anything installed to read the pictures from your camera.

STEP 1) Connect your digital camera to your computer:
Most Digital Camera's are USB capable. You should now connect your USB cable that came with the camera to your camera, and then plug the USB end into the computer.
If you are using Windows XP, you will typically see the screenshot below. If you do NOT have XP, see the tutorial here

STEP 2) USING Windows XP Wizard to move your pictures to your computer:
You should now either see the connect your USB cable that came with the camera to your camera, and then plug the USB end into the computer. If you are using Windows XP, you will typically see the screenshot below.

STEP 3) USING Windows XP Wizard to choose your pictures to move:
You should now see something similar to the screenshot below. All of your pictures will automatically be selected to move to your computer. In our folder, we have 43 pictures, it shows at the bottom 43 of 43 selected. Click the NEXT button

STEP 4) USING Windows XP Wizard to describe your pictures:
You should now see something similar to the screenshot below. All of your pictures will be moved into the folder below. In this case, these were various pictures, so we typed in VARIOUSPICS in the name. XP then will make a folder called VariousPics automatically.
Select a name for your pictures, or simply select the NEXT button without typing in a description. This will place all your pictures in the MY PICTURES folder.

STEP 5) Windows XP Wizard is moving your pictures to your computer:
You should now see something similar to the screenshot below. All of your pictures will automatically be moved to your computer. In our folder, we have 43 pictures, it shows at the bottom that it is copying 5 of 43 and shows the progress. Click the NEXT button when it finishes

STEP 6) Windows XP Wizard is asking what to do with your pictures:
You should now see something similar to the screenshot below once XP finishes moving your pictures. You can select NOTHING, since your web site is on your PC, you do not have to "publish" them. Click the NEXT button to continue.

STEP 7) Windows XP Wizard is finished moving your pictures to your computer:
You should now see something similar to the screenshot below. Click the FINISH button

STEP 8) Windows XP Wizard is moving your pictures to your computer:
You should now see something similar to the screenshot below. The XP wizard is now closed and has launched the VariousPics folder within the My Pictures folder. We can now see all of our pictures in thumbnail format and we are now ready to proceed and run the TZO program and configure the TZO Photo Sharing web server.
